On The Mat
Below is a brief overview of what is covered in each Bushi (Adult) lesson
WARM UP
This is required in order to make sure our
bodies are prepared for training – we get the
blood pumping and joints limber.
FITNESS
Usually some fitness is done after the warm up
to increase stamina, strength etc.
NON-SYLLABUS SECTION
Syllabus is what we learn to progress from one belt to the next and eventually to black belt, however to become a truly Complete Martial Artist our competence and technical repertoire must be continually challenged, shaped and advanced. As such this section is dedicated to experiment and diversity – as Sensei (Instructor) has a vast array of Martial Arts knowledge this is usually an interesting and challenging part of the lesson
SYLLABUS TRAINING
Studies have shown that we must perform an action 300 times before it becomes ‘natural’ without hesitation or thought. As such certain skills and techniques must be continually perfected and practiced.
Our Syllabus is demanding, vast and diverse. Although challenging, Sensei (Instructor) is able to help you progress at a steady pace which suits you, each belt level is designed to help you progress to the next.
PRESSURE TESTING
Towards the end of the lesson we will ‘pressure test’ what we have learnt either in friendly competition or group trials.
WARM DOWN
All lessons end with a warm down, sometimes followed by Meditation. All designed to reduce the risk of injury and settle our mind and body.
